Pacific Coast Highway

After we left San Francisco, we took one of the most beautiful trips we have ever seen in our lives! We didn't have too much time so we couldn't make that many stops but the views along the Pacific Coast Highway were amazing!! I couldn't stop staring out the window and I was even able to get the head phones and phones away from the kids to look at all the beautiful scenery!  (I buried my head a lot on the cliffs but I was able to peek out a bit!). We stopped to jump in the ocean once, hung out in Carmel, saw  a beach of Elephant Seals and even stopped in San Simeon to see Hearst Castle. We could really spend a week, not just 2 days, going from coastal town to coastal town... And some day we will!!

A dip in the Pacfic Ocean at Pescadero Beach!

Dinner in Carmel at the Porta Bella, I got Paella... It was enough for like 6 people and I needed everyone to help. (Plus it wasn't very good... I will never eat again!)

Sunset at Pebble Beach in Carmel.

On the road the next day, we couldn't stop at every cliff view but we found a safe one near Julia Pieffer Park. This was some of the views there... Including a waterfall, caverns and rocky coastline... Just another day on the road!

So then, right outside San Simeon, we find tons of people on the side of the road. We are afraid to pull over but then someone shouts out that they might see a walrus!! Of course we parked! It wasn't a walrus but a entire beach of elephant seals! They were huge! And there were hundreds... No zoo would ever do this justice. We were so lucky!

Next stop was San Simeon and we ran up to see if we could tour Hearst Castle. It wasn't cheap and we didn't get to see the whole mansion but it was incredible!  Maeve, I think, turned into a history buff. She is determined to be millionaire so she could build a house like this one. (I told her she would need to be a quadrillionaire...just sayin'.)

Now we are rushing to Anaheim to park for a couple nights even though we are missing some coastline, including Santa Barbara, but LA is calling us tomorrow and then Disneyland for the girls. I can't believe all the things we have seen!
